Today was a solemn day. The American students boarded a bus early this morning for the long trip to Dachau. This, without a doubt, was the most moving day of the trip. Students were given a two and a half hour tour of the memorial site. I will not be posting any pictures because pictures can not do this experience justice. Let it be said I have NEVER seen Reading students as quiet and interested as the 13 that were on this trip. Each student was moved and has personally taken this experience to heart. The chaperones are looking forward to reading each student's journal entry to see how they were each individually impacted.
After Dachau, students and chaperones made a quick stop in Ulm, birthplace of Albert Einstein. Students were given a chance to climb the tallest church spire IN THE WORLD. Only three brave souls accepted the challenge: Eli, Catherine, and Mr. Hudak. After a very short amount of free time to shop or get delicious ice cream, students boarded the bus and headed back to Reutlingen. This is their final weekend with their host families, as well as their final weekend in Germany!
